{ghost town}

Knock, knock, creeeeek....is anyone in here! The last three months have been very exciting, exhausting, and entertaining around here. First starters, I had a baby boy and have spent most of the last 8 weeks snuggling with him. Henry arrived on Sept. 4th (Nana's b-day) and weighed in at an unexpected 8lbs 14oz. He is such a doll and is growing like a weed. Here is his Halloween costume ..

Yes, he is the cutest thing you have ever seen!

We're starting to get back to reality. The next two patterns are in the works and I just need to find the time to write out the instructions. Easier said than done with all of the recent snuggle time. I'll also get back to blogging here at the new blog and upload all the promised free patterns just in time for the holidays.

{new arrival}

No, it's not Little H just yet but that announcement should be coming in a few short weeks. It's the new Taylor Trouser Pattern! The Taylor Trouser is now available in my etsy shop.

The Taylor Trouser Pattern by Grain & Gusset are trendy trousers are potty-training friendly, tired of ruffles, ultra hip and sassy, for the coolest little girls. This pattern has simple and easy step-by-step instructions (with tons of pictures) that will allow the beginner sewer to create a pair of Taylor trousers in about an hour (or two)!! We'll try to keep it stocked but if you don't see it in the shop it will be relisted asap! Enjoy!
Up next is a special project for a friend (I'll share a nice tutorial), maybe a little baby sewing, and then time to complete the next pattern. Stay tuned.

{coming soon}

There is something to be said in favor of nesting. This past week I have been crawling out of my skin to get things done even though I still have a while before the baby arrives. Yesterday I made a small baby quilt and a new cupcake pincushion, just 'cause. Surprisingly, except for the baby quilt, I've done very little to prepare for this baby. I guess the second time around (or third, whatever this is) all the "stuff" isn't necessary. Good thing too since I've preoccupied myself with other things.
I began to re-draft the trouser pattern that I started almost a year ago. I changed the design a little from what's pictured to achieve the look of a more tailored pant and I think it's going to be great! Look for the pattern release by the end of next week!

welcome

Welcome to the new blog and thanks for stopping in! My self-imposed maternity leave has officially begun. Simply, that means I'm talking a break from Georgia Grace (you may still find a sample here or there at great prices) and focus on bringing you the magic behind the scenes. I'm forcing myself to complete the four patterns that I've been working on for the last few months, as well as, revamping the Pop-Over Pinafore pattern to include larger sizes and some alternate design options. Grain and Gusset will remain open and stocked with fabulous pattern, fabric, kits, and supplies for all of your creative sewing needs.
Here on the blog you will find information regarding pattern releases, sewing instruction, free patterns and projects, and most likely a little sprinkling of me! First up on the list is to give this blog a more polished look in the next week. Stay tuned and feel free to send any tips, suggestions, or a pattern wish list my way!
